Senior Medical Scientist (Surveillance), required by TTM Healthcare, on behalf of an independent, acute care hospital based in North Dublin.

As Senior Medical Scientist in Surveillance, you will be responsible for compiling and reporting surveillance data, as well as devising strategies to monitor and decrease the incidence and spread of healthcare-associated infection in the hospital, in collaboration with the infection prevention and control team.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

•Implementing an effective surveillance function that promotes compliance with JCI, HIQA, INAB and best practice requirements for infection prevention and control
•Responsible for the surveillance and reporting of hospital-acquired infection, including organism and disease-specific surveillance
•Responsible for the co-ordination of collection, storage and documentation of appropriate isolates
•Ensure that antimicrobial susceptibility testing is standardised in accordance with national recommendations
•Ensure compliance with JCI standards that relate directly or indirectly to surveillance

This is a part-time post (18.5 hours per week) and specified purpose, to cover maternity leave.

This post would suit a candidate with a post-graduate qualification in a scientific, public health or epidemiology-related subject area, knowledge and experience of the procedures to monitor and control healthcare-associated infection or a keen interest in this area.

Key Requirements:

•Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Medical Science from an ACSLM-recognised provider
•MSc or equivalent in a relevant subject
•CORU registration
•Minimum 4 years post-qualification experience in hospital microbiology or epidemiology and or data management
•Experience of Surveillance
•Knowledge and experience of INAB accreditation for laboratories
•Good understanding of quality management
•Good working knowledge of laboratory health and safety
•Excellent interpretive, communication and presentation skills
