THE OPPORTUNITY:
Speech & Language Therapist - Dublin North City and County
ASAP start, 6-month HSE Fixed Term contract
THE BACKGROUND:
At TTM Healthcare we are proud to have partnered with the Primary Care Speech and Language Therapy Adult Service in North Dublin.
They have an available opportunity for a Staff Grade SLT to join them on a Fixed Term 6-month contract to provide service continuity for a Maternity Leave vacancy within the Primary Care SLT Adult service within the Kilbarrack Area Network (based in Kilbarrack Health Centre initially & then moving onto Tonlegee Road PCC)
This will help manage referrals and assess and treat adults on the existing client caseload with communication and/or eating, drinking & swallowing difficulties. If you think the position is right for you, let's talk.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The overall responsibility within this role will be to
• Assessment, differential diagnosis, intervention with and management of children with communication and/or swallowing disorders
• Engage in multidisciplinary working so that Service Users will benefit from a holistic approach.
• Attend and participate in Team meetings.
• Train and assess Speech & Language Therapy students.
• Educate and train parents, families, caregivers and communication partners of clients with communication and swallowing disorders, along with other professionals involved in their care.
• Attend to Service Users in Nursing Homes and Client's homes
THE REQUIREMENTS:
To be eligible for the role, you will need:
• A recognised qualification as a Speech & Language Therapist.
• Full CORU registration.
• Ability to adapt to changing work environment.
• Professional approach to work
• Flexibility in work practice
• Experience in assessment and therapy of a wide range of communication disorders in children (0-18 years) is desirable.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork and effective caseload management skills.
• Good planning, organisation and effective time management skills together with the ability to work on your own initiative.
• Dysphagia qualification & experience essential
• Adults are typically seen in both Nursing Homes & Client's homes so access to car and full driving license essential
