ASAP start - 6-month contract (initially)

THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The overall responsibility within this role will be to


• Provide assessment and treatment to service users and their families where the service user is experiencing mental health difficulties.
• Provide mental health social work assessment and interventions as part of an integrated multidisciplinary mental health service.
• Provide family based interventions when appropriate.
• Ensure the implementation of models of best practice / evidence based practice.
• Ensure the delivery of social work services in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures, guidelines and protocols.
• Ensure that any risks to service user safety are identified and managed appropriately in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team under the leadership of the Consultant Psychiatrist.
• Actively participate as a member of the Social Work department in team building and change initiatives as required
• Ensure anti-discriminatory practice and cultural competence, at individual and service levels
• Promote a culture that values diversity and respect in the workplace.
• Participate in working groups / committees/ clinical audits as requested by the Principal Social Worker.
• Seek the advice of relevant personnel when appropriate / as required.
• Take direction from the Principal Social Worker or Designate.
• Keep the Principal Social Worker or Designate fully informed and up-to-date on all significant matters.
• Support and advise colleagues in the identification of and appropriate referral of cases of suspected child abuse / neglect.
• Complete comprehensive assessment reports as required.
• Deliver a high quality service in an effective and resource efficient manner.
• Facilitate groups and projects in accordance with service need.
• Ensure clinical records are properly and accurately maintained and that appropriate statistical information is available as required.
• Participate in research and cooperate with internal and external audit and evaluation of the service as required.
• Develop good working relationships with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, specialist services, community and voluntary organisations to provide integrated quality care to service users.
• Contribute to the overall development of the social work service so as to meet current and emerging trends and unmet needs.
• Attend and participate in meetings, case discussions and case conferences as requested.
• Attend court as required.
• Provide professional leadership at meetings, committees and/or other fora as required.
• Participate in case conferences with the appropriate staff when the need arises.
• Be professionally responsible for all aspects of the post holders own work.
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Principal Social Worker.
• Staff will work in accordance with the principles and values of recovery as described in the National Framework for Recovery for Irish Mental Health Services 2018-2020. Ensuring principals of service user involvement are adhered to in all aspects of practice.



THE REQUIREMENTS:

To be eligible for the role, you will need:

• A recognised qualification as a Social Worker.
• Full CORU Registration.
• Ability to adapt to changing work environment.
• Professional approach to work.
• Flexibility in work practice.
• Excellent communications skills with children and adults.
