TTM Healthcare, in partnership with one of Ireland's leading academic teaching hospitals based in South Dublin, are recruiting for a Senior Medical Scientist in Microbiology.

The Microbiology Laboratory in this Hospital is an ISO accredited diagnostic service and offers services from routine cultures and susceptibility to molecular diagnostic testing.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:
•Participating in the implementation of the Laboratory service that supports the clinical needs of patients
•Participating in leading and training a team of skilled staff, creating and promoting healthy working relationships
•Managing day to day issues in the Laboratory as required by the Chief Medical Scientist
•Providing analytical and consultative information to assist in the diagnosis of clinical problems and the monitoring of disease progression and treatment
•Representing the Microbiology Department and deputise for the Chief Medical Scientist (Microbiology) as required
•Assisting with the implementation and subsequent maintenance of the Department accreditation programme with specific responsibility for ISO 15189
•Participating in the development of continuous quality improvement programs for all activities pertinent to the laboratory service
•Supervising Medical Scientists working in Microbiology

This is a full-time, permanent position and an excellent opportunity for career progression within the HSE.

Key Requirements:
•MSc in Biomedical Science/Medical Laboratory Science - only ACSLM/CORU approved degrees can be considered
•CORU registration is essential or proof of application
•At least 6 years' experience in a medium to large diagnostic Microbiology laboratory
•Familiar with various automated/semi-automated methodology to include identification and susceptibility of organisms; Blood Culture detection, TB detection, Urinanalysis and faecal analysis
•Molecular experience is a bonus but not essential
•Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
