Senior Medical Scientist Microbiology required by TTM Healthcare, on behalf of an independent, acute care hospital based in Galway
The JCI accredited Pathology Department performs a wide range of clinical laboratory investigations utilising state of the art diagnostic analysers and techniques. This is a multi-disciplinary laboratory covering the following:
•Clinical Biochemistry
•Haematology / Coagulation
•Microbiology
•Blood Transfusion
As a Senior Medical Scientist, in conjunction with the Chief Medical Scientist, you will be expected to provide an efficient service to users ensuring that all standards are reached and that policies and procedures are followed as well as leading and co-ordinating scientific staff and/or support staff within the Laboratory. The role will be primarily based in the microbiology department
This is a full-time, permanent position, with competitive salary and benefits offered to the selected candidate.
Requirements:
•Candidates must have, or be eligible for, full Membership of the Academy of Medical Laboratory Science and possess a relevant, recognised qualification.
•CORU registration or in Process - Validation
•Fulfil the qualifications as laid down by the DOH&C
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
•Problem solving. Ability to make rational calm decisions. Skills at diagnosis, especially skills of deduction. High level of commitment to tasks undertaken in quality environment.
•Must be able to prioritise their work so as to meet the demands of meeting different timelines and able to work on their own where and when this is required.
•Must demonstrate flexibility to work in a demand driven environment, enthusiasm, adaptability and a willingness to co-operate
•Good computer skills
•Experience of working in the area of Microbiology laboratory.
