Job Role: Medical Scientist (Senior) - Blood Transfusion
Job Type: Permanent Full time
Location: Galway City
Salary: 50838 67,986 per annum
TTM Healthcare are working with one of Ireland's Leading Private Hospitals based on the outskirts of Galway city
The role is working within the Laboratory Department for the position of Medical Scientist Blood Transfusion (Senior). This is a permanent full time role, 40 hours per week.
The Role:
•Organisation and co-ordination of the Blood Transfusion services.
•Implementation and maintenance of a quality management system in Blood Transfusion.
•You will be required to actively and positively support the Clinic, in its quest to gain and maintain ISO15189 and JCI Accreditation.
•Management, development and implementation (in conjunction with the IT department), of IT related projects.
•Management and provision of appropriate statistical and management information
•Act as deputy for the Laboratory Manager when required and liaise with other senior personnel.
•Participate in developing the Blood Transfusion services to meet the clinical needs of our patients and ensuring that the service is consistent with the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of the Hospital.
•Co-ordination of departmental training and organisation of the rota
•Actively participate in and promote continuing education and research activities consistent with the values of the Hospital.
•Ensure that all samples are processed in accordance with standard operating procedures.
•Ensure that policies relating to Blood Transfusion record keeping are followed.
•Ordering of supplies and stock management.
•Co-operate in evaluating assays, equipment, consumable items and research projects.
•Actively participate in internal and external quality control and quality assurance.
•Participate in ensuring that effective safety procedures are in place to comply not only with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act but also within the spirit of the Hospital's mission, vision and values. Also participate in ensuring that these safety procedures are known and followed.
•To demonstrate flexibility, by accommodating other areas of the Laboratory should the need arise.
•From time to time, to undertake any reasonable and practicable duties as requested by the Laboratory Manager.
Requirements:
•Relevant Scientific Qualification (BSc in Biomedical or related Science) - essential.
•MSc essential.
•Must be registered with CORU or in the process of applying for state registration
•Must be eligible for membership of the ACSLM
•Post Qualification Medical Scientist experience in Blood Transfusion 5 years is essential. Also, 2-3 years Senior Medical Scientist experience is desirable.
•Experience in the management and development of LIS in a Blood Transfusion laboratory desirable
•Professional approach to work
