TTM Healthcare Solutions are currently working for one of Ireland's Leading hospitals in search of a an experienced Senior Clinical/ Counselling/ Neuropsychologist to provide expertise in neuropsychology working with individuals with Huntingtons Disease, Frontal Lobe Dementia and other neuropsychiatric disorders. This is an exciting opportunity to join a developing psychology team specialising in neuropsychology and severe and enduring mental health conditions.

Qualifications:
  • Registered Psychologist with CORU and the Psychological Society of Ireland having obtained doctorate in Neuropsychology or an equivalent qualification.

Those qualified abroad will need to have validation certificate from PSI indicating permission to work as a psychologist in Ireland. Only CV's with Validation Certificate from PSI will be considered for review prior to shortlisting.

Experience:

  • Have five years post qualification experience preferably with individuals presenting with severe and challenging mental health difficulties.
  • Have established clinical experience in the area of Mental Health and Neuropsychology.
  • Experience in a healthcare / hospital setting. In particular has previous experience working with Huntington's disease, severe mental health including some forensic components and frontal lobe dementia.
  • Demonstrate keen interest in neuropsychiatric disorders.
  • Extensive skills in psychological assessment, production of psychological reports to high standards.
  • Ability to convey psychological concepts to wider MDT in relation to patient's formulations and history.
  • Experience of supporting nursing team to manage behaviours that challenge, family dynamics and other boundary setting issues.
  • Previous experience supervising assistant psychologists and trainee psychologists.
  • Proven track record in representing psychology at meetings, engaging with external stakeholders and research provision.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment/intervention programmes for clients according to professional standards.
  • Collaboration with resident, family, carers and other staff in goal setting and treatment/intervention planning.
  • Participate in the multi-disciplinary/healthcare team and work in co-operation and collaboration with team members.
  • Contribute to the development of specific policies and educational/staff training modules as needed e.g. caring for those with Dementia/Neurocognitive disorders and supporting family members
  • Maintain comprehensive clinical records of patients/residents assessment, interventions carried out, communications relating to patients/residents.
  • Manage, participate and play a key role in the practice education of student physiotherapists and promote and engage in the teaching/training/support of others as appropriate.
  • To plan discharge or transfer of the patient/resident between services as appropriate.
