Our client a small residential Nursing & Respite Care Home, are seeking to recruit a Director Of Nursing / Person In Charge for an expanding Nursing Home near Limerick City. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced care home manager.

Our client is an expanding privately owned centre specialising in long term and respite care for older adults.

Responsibilities:

• Will undertake the role and responsibilities in line with the Health Act 2007, related regulations and HIQA standards.
• Ensuring implementation and adherence to Company and HIQA standards, procedures and guidelines
• Participate in clinical management within the Nursing & Respite Care in consultation with the registered provider including
providing care to residents, communicating with residents/families/representatives.
• Coordinate the quality and safety system including all aspects of clinical risk management and resident involvement.
• Participate in the development of policies and standards for the Nursing & Respite Care
• Coordinate, roster and manage staff in conjunction with the senior management team in the Home
• Ensure that overall standards of hygiene and food safety are maintained at the highest level possible
• In consultation with HR, participate in grievance and disciplinary activities
• Participate in the selection and interviewing of staff
• Initial induction of staff and ongoing training and development of staff
• Conduct internal audits and following up on results of same
• Conduct regular communication meetings with all clinical staff
• Establish a good rapport with external community agencies bringing the local community into the Home and facilitating residents to attend
functions/activities within the local community
• Liaise with Marketing to maximise opportunities to ensure the Home has a high profile in the local community
• Implement regular fire training and evacuation plans
• Ensure the hygiene and cleanliness of the home is to the highest standard
• Ensure a preventative maintenance programme is in place and implemented
• Conduct regular training needs analysis
• Lead by example a professional, punctual and dedicated team

Requirements:

• NMBI Registration
• Qualified RGN with at least 3 years Management experience in the last 6 years in care of the older person
• Post registration management qualification in health or a related field
• Qualification in Gerontology and/or Dementia is desirable
• Thorough knowledge of HIQA standards, regulations and governance in a Nursing Home setting
• Proven track record in healthcare clinical management
• Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills
• Demonstrate an ability to embrace change and be committed to continuous improvement and learning throughout the Care Centre
• Have the ability to manage your own workload effectively while responding flexibly to new demands at short notice.
• Willingness to be flexible and adapt to the needs of the company.
