Medical Lab Aide required for a hospital in North Dublin.
This is a temporary position on a rolling contract, based on a 39 hour week, Monday to Friday.
Duties:
- Assist Laboratory Scientific staff in the specimen reception function
- Assist the Laboratory Scientific staff in the pre-analytical stage of specimen analysis..
- Assist in the preparation of reagents, media and disinfectants as appropriate.
- Prepare and record incoming and outgoing specimens
- Collect and deliver specimens and reports throughout the hospital, as required.
- Assist with the care, storage and stock control of laboratory equipment and supplies as required.
- Clean and tidy the laboratory
- Assist with the printing and sorting of laboratory reports
- Assist with the printing of laboratory labels.
- Assist with the security of the laboratory premises.
- Safeguard at all times confidentiality of information relating to patients and staff.
- Other duties appropriate to the position as may be assigned from time to time.
- Participate in a professional, punctual and dedicated team with good open communications.
- Creating and promoting good and healthy working relationships.
- In co-operation with Pathology Consultants, Chief Medical Scientist and other designated senior staff, participate in the introduction of new ideas and methods according to Hospital policy:
- Ensure that policy and practice relating to the Laboratory record keeping is followed as determined by the departmental Chief Medical Scientist/Senior in charge
- Ensuring that the laboratory operates within a quality management system that meets the requirements of ISO 15189 Medical laboratories.
Requirements:
- To be eligible for this role, you must have proof of your Help B Vaccine
Must have eligibility to work in Ireland - Lab experience desirable
