THE OPPORTUNITY:
Locum staff Grade Audiologist - Dublin 7

ASAP start, 12-month contract potentially

They have an exciting opportunity for a Staff Grade Audiologist to join their enthusiastic and progressive Audiology team, with clients of all ages, from new-borns to elderly.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The overall responsibility within this role;

• Carry out behavioural audiological assessments of children and adults

• Undertake the prescription, fitting and management of hearing aid fitting for children and adults

• Conduct audiological assessments as required

• Interpret the results of audiological assessments and provide recommendations and reports to other health and educational professionals as necessary

• Provide advice to patients, relatives and carers on audiological conditions and their management

• Organise onward referral as necessary to other professionals and voluntary services such as ENT Consultants, Visiting Teachers of the Deaf, Paediatricians, Psychologists and Speech & Language Therapists, and to communicate with them on an ongoing basis as necessary

• Prescribe and fit hearing aids for adults as appropriate

• Provide guidance to clients on the use of prescribed hearing aids and on other issues relating to hearing loss

• Monitor hearing loss on an ongoing basis informing and advising the client and/or family and the professionals involved, on any changes

• Ensure that standards of clinical practice are maintained

• Perform all clinical duties in accordance with directives issued

• Provide the clinical manager with reports as required

• Maintain familiarity with relevant aspects of HSE services as to be able to direct any queries to the appropriate service

• Develop protocols, patient care plans, goal setting, outcome measurement and participate in research and developments in Audiology

• Contribute as required in training courses. Organise and provide regular training courses and update for first tier/screening staff such as Community Medical Officers, PHNs and Doctors in training and to other medical professionals
• Supervise and assist in the training of student audiologists

• Organise and maintain equipment for clinical application and ensure it is maintained in good order

• Participate in quality control of hearing aids and moulds

• Ensure regular calibration of diagnostic equipment and sound fields as appropriate

• Contribute to the introduction and evaluation of new techniques, methods and equipment

• Maintain a record of work activity and maintain files on clients referred to the service

• Maintain stocks of supplies necessary for the service

• Participate in stock controls

• Ensure data procedures used are kept up to date and to advise on new procedures as necessary

• Perform such other duties appropriate to the post as may be assigned from time to time by the audiologist in charge, the General Manager or nominee or Assistant National Clinical Lead - Audiology



THE REQUIREMENTS:

To be eligible for the role, you will need:

• A recognised qualification as an Audiologist.
• Ability to adapt to changing work environment.
• Professional approach to work
• Flexibility in work practice
• Experience in working with this client group is preferable - not essential.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork and effective caseload management skills.
• Good planning, organisation and effective time management skills together with the ability to work on your own initiative.
