Hourly rate of €34.99.
Hybrid working; however travel and overnights are a major part of the role.
The main office located in Dublin 4.

Key Responsibilities
Under the overall direction of the Inspector of Mental Health Services, the Assistant Inspector's key responsibilities include:
• Visiting and inspecting premises where mental health services are being provided
• Assisting the Commission in fulfilling its statutory mandate to promote quality mental health services
• Assist the Inspector in carrying out an inquiry as specified in the Mental Health Act 2001
• Working with the Executive in relation to the development of quality mental health services

Person Specification
The Assistant Inspector of Mental Health Services will have a track record of contributing to and facilitating the promotion and implementation of high standards of care and treatment in mental health services in Ireland or abroad.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:
• A strong commitment to the provision of patient/service user-centred mental health services
• Experience of understanding relevant mental health legislation
• Willingness to work in a flexible and unpredictable environment
• Experience of preparing and presenting reports on complex issues within specified timelines
• A high standard of professional accomplishment and commitment
• Experience of writing factual, evidence-based reports
• IT literacy, with a very good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
• A commitment to making a positive difference to the safety of people who come in contact with mental health services, ensuring a quality experience

Essential Requirements
In addition to the person specification, the ideal candidate must possess the following:

Demonstrable experience in one or more of the following:
1.Undertaking investigations
2.Gathering evidence
3.Service evaluations
4.Knowledge of evaluation tools.
5.Proven track record of completing reports and documentation within appropriate timeframes.
6.Demonstrable knowledge of the relevant legislative and administrative framework, the regulatory environment, and the national standards for mental health services.
7.A third level qualification (NFQ Level 8) in a mental health, health, social care, legal or a related discipline.
8.A full current driving license with access to a private motor vehicle and be able to lawfully drive same to ensure the proper performance of their duties on appointment. Candidates are advised to note that there is a significant travel commitment associated with this role including stays away from base.
9.Ability to contribute to building trust with colleagues and understand the impact of their work on service users, services being inspected, the public and the Commission.
10.Clinical experience working in mental health services
