Training in Clare
To become an HCA in Clare you will need your Leaving Certificate and a QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support or Pre-Nursing Studies or SNAC. This study route includes modules on Healthcare Support, Healthcare Service Skills and Community Health Services. To achieve 120 Credits, you will need to complete all 8 Modules.
There are qualifying FET/PLC Courses available in Clare, and you can train in person or online. Training facilities in Clare include - College of FET Ennis Campusas well as The Open Collegewhich provides online QQI Level 5 courses. You can also check with other local Further Education and Training (FET) providers and PLC colleges for relevant courses. As well as the main qualification you will need specific training such as Patient and Manual Handling, CPR and AED Training as well as Garda Vetting. You will need to be eligible to work in Ireland and have either an EU Passport or valid GNIB Card Stamp 1g or 4. You’ll need fluent written and spoken English and a minimum of 3 months’ recent experience in a caring or support role.
You should also note that you may work in a general support role if you do not have a formal qualification or are in the process of gaining one.
