Youth Mental Health Promotion Manager - Travelling Nationally


ASAP start, Fixed Term 18-month contract initially (full time)

The successful candidate, reporting to the Director of Education and Community, will have a leadership and management role in the day-to-day operations of our Client's work in education settings. As a proactive self-starter, they will be a creative and persuasive communicator with a strong focus on developing sustainable relationships with a wide range of internal and external audiences in line with this organisation's vision to bring about an Ireland where every young person's mental health is valued and supported.
The post holder will be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the Business's evolving programmes of work in schools. They will work strategically and collaboratively with the Youth Mental Health Promotion Manager (Community Settings) and Youth Participation Manager towards achieving the following overall aim: To better inform, support, educate and empower young people themselves and those around them, in settings where young people live, learn, work and play, in order to increase understanding of our collective role in promoting and supporting young people's mental health'.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES:


The overall responsibility within this role;

• Provide leadership to the Youth Mental Health Promotion Team (education settings) through line management, supervision and support.
• Oversee the further development and expansion of this Client's mental health promotion work in post-primary schools, building further on the current One Good School™ Initiative.
• Oversee the development of an online, interactive portal for the management, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of the next stage of the One Good School™ implementation.
• Work closely with colleagues and leadership teams to build the capacity of internal staff to implement a new blended approach (both online and face-to-face) to delivering the One Good School™ Initiative.
• Provide support to services of the organisation in relation to service planning and review of our work in schools.
• Oversee the monitoring of KPIs relating to the organisation's work in schools and ensure services receive adequate support to meet agreed targets.
• Work closely with the research and evaluation team in the overall evaluation of the One Good School™ Initiative.
• Work collaboratively with the Youth Mental Health Promotion Manager (Community Settings) and Youth Participation Manager to ensure a cohesive, consolidated and integrated approach to the business's work across community, education and youth participation work streams (as part of an overall Youth Mental Health Promotion Department).
• Oversee the production of written reports and papers regarding youth mental health promotion in schools with a view to developing a dissemination strategy beyond the organisation.
• Build collaborations and partnerships with key stakeholders in the education space, nationally and regionally, in order to further progress our work in schools.
• Stay current with international developments in youth mental health education and promotion and adapt innovative programmes and practices to continually enhance Jigsaw's youth mental health promotion agenda.




THE REQUIREMENTS:


To be eligible for the role, you will need:


Qualifications and Experience:
• Masters level qualification in Health Promotion or MA Education or Professional Masters in Education -PME), or a relevant 3rd level qualification in an allied health profession (i.e. psychology, mental health nursing, occupational therapy only).
• Minimum of 3 years' work experience in a role where mental health & wellbeing promotion in education settings were key responsibilities.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience of line management, support and supervision of staff/teams.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience of managing large scale projects/initiatives.


Knowledge & Skills:

• Ability to demonstrate experience of employing core competencies and skills e.g. knowledge of mental health and wellbeing concepts and principles, influencing change, advocacy, partnership working, leadership, communication, needs assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Ability to manage and prioritise own workload and the skills to lead, plan, manage and review a comprehensive, evolving programme of work and to work to tight deadlines in a dynamic changing environment.
• Understanding of, and familiarity with the education sector and the current national policy context shaping how mental health and wellbeing is addressed within school settings.
• Strong, demonstrable people management skills and the capacity to implement a robust performance management process.
• Experience of developing educational content for dissemination (e.g. training manuals, webinars, webpages, social media, toolkits), with particular reference to youth mental health.
• Experience of deploying a wide variety of presentation, training and facilitation techniques to ensure best learning outcomes for participants.
• Ability to write comprehensive strategy and framework documents, work plans and progress reports.
• Experience of developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with a variety of individuals and organisations, particularly within the education sector.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate and work with a range of audiences from a variety of backgrounds.
• Capacity to work independently, as well as part of a Team, and the ability to prioritise a variety of tasks and pay careful attention to detail.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and targets.
• Reliability, flexibility, and commitment.
• Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and experience of online facilitation and training delivery.
• Genuine passion for working with young people and schools and in influencing change in Irish society in relation to youth mental health.
• Full, clean driving licence & access to a car.


Desirable Criteria:

• Understanding of the issues which impact on the mental health of young people and an understanding of prevention and early intervention strategies.
• Experience of working with young people.

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Factors taken into account in determining an appropriate scale include the candidate's knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications relevant to the job. The salary range for this role will be €55,000 - €75,000.
