Locum Social Worker - Limerick

ASAP start, 6-month contract initially


THE BACKGROUND:

At TTM Healthcare we are proud to have partnered with one of Ireland's leading Intellectual Disability services.

Our Client has an available opportunity for a Social Worker with excellent experience, skills and knowledge, who displays and delivers their passion for working in Social Work environments, to work as part of a Social Work Team to provide service for adults with Intellectual Disabilities.

The role of the Social Worker in this organisation is to work in partnership with individuals that use the service, their families, carers, staff and service providers. The purpose of intervention/assessment is to identify needs, to facilitate emotional and practical support and empower service users and their families to enhance their quality of life and to live the life they choose. A key component of this role is to safeguard vulnerable adults from abuse.
Our Client's model of Service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their outlook and working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.

The successful candidate will work with service users and their families, the Social Work department and Multidisciplinary teams, while reporting to the Social Work Team Leader.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The overall responsibility within this role will be to

• Plan, manage and provide an efficient and effective social work service to adults with a Intellectual Disabilities
• Ensure the rights of service users and their families are respected.
• Provide appropriate therapeutic services, practical support and information to persons who receive our services.
• Supervise the implementation of the agreed personal lifestyle plans and provide family support as required.
• Support service users to become full participants in their local communities
• Identify unmet needs and to make recommendations to further the development of the services and promote the provision of appropriate resources and facilities.
• To provide Social Work Assessments and partake in multi-disciplinary assessment reports
• To maintain accurate assessment reports, intervention plans, and progress notes on service users.
• Keep up to date records on all service user interventions in accordance with social work principles and in line with agency policy.
• Maintain statistical records and other reports as required by management.
• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to maintain and promote good communication and good relationships with other disciplines within the service.
• To liaise with the HSE and other relevant statutory and voluntary organisations as appropriate.
• Have a good working knowledge of all relevant legislation and regulations governing your practice and keep up with any changes in these.
• Facilitate group sessions for Service Users.
• Participate in relevant research ethically
• Participate in relevant training and further education as required.
• Attend regular Professional Support and Supervision with the appointed Social Worker.
• Plan and promote the development of new models of service within Adult Services..
• To ensure that high professional standards and confidentiality are maintained at all times.
• Promote and facilitate community liaison including advocacy, citizen advocacy and promoting and maintaining family contact for service users.
• Promote dignity at work and show respect to Service Users, colleagues and stakeholders in the course of duty.
• To perform such other duties assigned from time to time by the Team Leader. All duties must be carried out in person at all times.
• As the duties and responsibilities of any post in the Service are likely to change with the ongoing needs of the clients and service development, staff are expected to have a high level of flexibility, a willingness and an ability to develop new approaches to their work as the service needs demand.

THE REQUIREMENTS:

To be eligible for the role, you will need:

• A recognised qualification as a Social Worker.
• Full CORU Registration.
• Ability to adapt to changing work environment.
• Professional approach to work.
• Flexibility in work practice.
• Excellent communications skills with children and adults.
• Two year post-qualifying experience desirable.
• Staff must have a positive attitude towards working with persons with an intellectual disability and help to support them to live a life of their choosing.
• Staff must treat each person with an intellectual disability as an individual and at all times acknowledge and respect the rights and personal dignity of the person.
• Staff are required to establish and maintain relationships with adults with disabilities that are based on respect and equality and that promote their independence.
