SENIOR PHYSIOTHERAPIST (ADULTS) - TEMPORARY - CORK

TTM Healthcare, on behalf of our client based in Charleville, are recruiting a Senior Physiotherapist.

This is a full time post with an expected contract duration of 3 - 6 months.

OVERALL OBJECTIVE

To contribute to the optimisation of the quality of life of each adult who uses the service so that they may lead as full, as integrated and as independent a life as possible. The purpose of this role is to provide direct clinical care, which includes physiotherapy evidenced-based assessment, treatment and management of assigned caseloads. The successful candidate will provide an environment which values and respects the individual and which fosters independence, personal development and social inclusion.


MAIN DUTIES

Duties include

• To initiate a course of treatment following examination and assessment of people with physical and intellectual disability

• Provide home/ Day Centre / educational / work / community visits as appropriate to assess / determine the supported person's holistic needs

• Identify and prescribe specialist equipment as is necessary to promote independence

• having adequate knowledge in prescription orthotics working with third party supplier and supporting monthly orthotic clinics

• To provide hydrotherapy for the clients and provide therapeutic exercise in the hydro pool.

• In conjunction with other team members, develop programmes aimed at maximising ability and minimising disability.

• Act as an advocate for the Service Users or carers as necessary

• Attend clinics, MDT review meetings, team meetings, case conferences, etc. as designated through the line management system

• Assist/advise supervisors, and families in devising programmes and activities with developmental potential

• Train, involve and advise other staff in the development of therapeutic programmes

• To ensure individual progress is charted and utilised for decision making purposes

• To ensure individuals are involved in any decision making process relative to them

• To keep adequate up-to-date treatment records including statistical requirements and provide data as required

• To contribute to the maintenance of a high level of staff morale and team spirit among colleagues and other members of staff

• To attend courses and meetings as required

• To perform such other appropriate duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Chief Executive Officer

• Ensure that professional standards are maintained in relation to confidentiality, ethics and legislation


Educational requirements

Candidates must satisfy Department of Health and Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics for appointment as follows:

• Hold a Degree and be registered in the Physiotherapy Register, maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU
• Qualify for Registration with The Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP) is required
• Permission to work in Ireland

Special Requirements

• Full clean driving licence and use of a car
• Previous Work Experience a minimum of three years post qualification experience.

Essential:

• Experience of working with adults with intellectual disabilities/ autism.
• Experience in developing innovative techniques and evaluating progressive treatment programmes.

Salary:

€52,260 - €61,703 based on experience.
