Our client a well established , highly reputable 100+ bedded Nursing Home based in South Dublin are actively recruiting a Director of Nursing. The Role :

The Director of Nursing will hold responsibility for the home and report directly to the Director of Operations. The successful candidate will maintain and enhance the professional services and provision of care to residents, managing all operational matters (clinical and non) to improve resident outcomes.
The overall objective of the role is to provide leadership and management to the team, ensuring that the homes vision and values are understood and acted upon. Ensuring, through management of the team that the quality of service and quality of care is always to the highest possible standard whilst adhering to
regulatory requirements.

The General role and responsibilities include:

The support and empowerment of Floor managers to effectively manage and implement agreed policies and procedures within the areas of responsibility.
Promote the concepts of person-centred care through high standards or professional practice which meet the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual and spiritual needs of the residents.
Analyses performance from the business and financial perspectives and assist to achieve financial goals and objectives.
Participate in the development of policy and procedures and continuously monitor and assess performance against such policy and procedures.
Ensure the internal and external audit processes are managed in line with policies and procedures. Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of relevant regulations, standards and guidance.
Ensure that risks are proactively identified and support the appropriate persons in the treatment of such risks and are reported upon and escalated appropriately.
Ensure that information is collected, utilised and analysed in a manner that supports quality assurance and improvement in line with policy and procedure, regulations, relevant standards, desired accreditation, and business/strategic objectives.
Implement agreed systems of management reporting. This includes, but is not limited to, monthly reporting requirements to Senior Management in the agreed format and requested reviews.
Ensure statutory reporting to external bodies is completed in line with specified guidelines, with reference to The Health Act 2007.
Ensure that decisions made to support the attainment of objectives within your areas of responsibility are made within budget.
Encourage, mentor, and monitor others to routinely utilise evidence-based data for management and clinical decision making. Participate in professional organisations to enhance personal growth and facilitate collaborate
Workforce planning and employment decisions including selection, mentoring and applying appropriate corrective actions to mitigate workplace behaviour problems.

The Education and Experience :

The successful candidate must hold the following to fulfil the requirements of this role:
Bachelor of Science (BSc) in nursing.
Previous experience and a proven track record of progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting, caring for the older person.
Qualified as a registered general nurse with The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Evidence of continuous professional development
The ability to communicate effectively with residents, family members, team members, management and external bodies e.g. HIQA, HSE, GPs etc.
