Our client a 41 Bedded Residential Home Care Facility based in Co. Mayo are are presently recruiting a Director of Nursing. The location of the care home is in a small village in County Mayo bordering counties Roscommon, Galway and Sligo.

House prices and rent in the area are substantially cheaper compared to Urban areas.

Education & Qualifications:

Third Level Degree in Nursing.
Registered with An Bord Altranais and hold an active PIN.
Current Valid Infection Control, Manual and Resident Moving & Handling, Medication Management, CPR, Dementia, Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults Certificates
Post-registration qualification in healthcare management or equivalent is essential.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will undertake the role and responsibilities of the Director of Nursing in line with the Health Act 2007, related regulations and standards published by the Health Information and Quality Authority.

Requirements, responsibilities, and experiences:

Must be a registered nurse (on the live register of nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, NMBI).
Must have 5 years of relevant post-registration nursing experience.
Must have (within the last 6 years) a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience, caring for the older person.
Must possess (within the last 6 years) a minimum of 3 years of management/supervisory experience, including team leadership with resource planning and allocation.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively with residents, relatives/visitors, employees, management, and external bodies e.g., GPs, hospitals, HSE, HIQA, etc.
Post-registration qualification in healthcare management or equivalent will be an advantage.
The salary and benefits for this position will be determined according to the experience of the successful candidate and will be contracted to work 45 hours per week on a fulltime basis.

Duties:

Initial induction of staff
Ongoing training and development of staff
Encouragement of innovative practice
Conducting regular audits and outlining outcomes to staff.
Ensuring implementation and adherence to Company and HIQA standards, procedures and guidelines
Conducting regular communication meetings with all clinical staff
Establish a good rapport with external community agencies bringing the local community into the Home and facilitating residents to attend functions/activities within the local community
Implement Company Health and Safety Policy to safeguard the safety and welfare of staff, residents and others
Implement regular fire training and evacuation plans
Ensure the hygiene and cleanliness of the home is to the highest standard
Ensure a preventative maintenance programme is in place and implemented
Participate in the selection and interviewing of staff
Clinical practice in the home meets Regulations & Standards
