Southern Health and Social Care Trust in Northern Ireland realised that, if they wanted to know what life is really like working with the trust, there was truly only one group of people to ask.
So, last autumn, the Trust reached out to each of the 13,000 staff who deliver patient care and support services across Armagh, Banbridge, Craigavon, Dungannon, and Newry and Mourne. The results of this staff survey have just been released.
Southern Trust’s findings came in above the NHS national average in a number of key areas:
Over three quarters of staff (76%) said that care of patients is the organisation’s top priority; a 15% improvement from the previous survey in 2012. Welcoming the findings, Francis Rice, Chief Executive at Southern Trust, thanked staff for their honest answers. He encouraged them all to keep making suggestions to improve the Trust, stressing that:
“We are committed to listening and learning from staff and involving them in shaping services…there is always room for improvement and will be focusing on a number of areas highlighted through this survey, to help to make our Trust a better place to work for the ultimate benefit of our patients and clients.”
