On behalf of our Client. We are currently recruiting a Assistant Director of Nursing to join their Intellectual disability Service.
The service provides Rehabilitation for the older person and those with respiratory conditions, neurological disabilities and intellectual disabilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Director of Nursing in directing nursing policy in relation to staff allocation, by use of computerised patient dependency system, in order to ensure that high standards of nursing care are being developed and maintained throughout the hospital.
Plan and guide activities to provide maximum patient care in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. Ensure that opportunities exist for the development of nursing and that care given is appropriate reflects current research and best practice and is cost effective and patient centred. Assist with the implementation of a quality assessment programme and ensure that audits are carried out and reflect the patient's level of satisfaction.
Initiate, encourage, advise, support and participate in research projects in order to examine and develop practice.
Maintain patient safety and investigate accidents, incidents, and complaints and report accordingly.
Assist in the formulation and implementation of Hospital Policy and Procedures and monitor same.
Be alert to possible safety hazards and assist as required in making appropriate arrangements for the health, welfare and safety of nursing and social care staff.
Become involved in the preparation for the introduction of a computerised nurse management system.
Control and develop staff within his/her area of responsibility, in consultation with the Director of Nursing, Unit Managers and Persons in Charge. Make provision for cover for leave so that all areas have adequate cover.
Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses kept by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
Extensive experience including any of the nursing specialities i.e. older persons & I.D.
