Job Description

Director of Nursing - Co. Dublin    
Our client one of Ireland's leading healthcare providers are looking to recruit a Director of Nursing for a 60 Bedded Care Home based in North County Dublin. Reporting to the Regional Manager the successful candidate will essentially be responsible for the provision of residential care for clients and specialist care for those with Dementia. The nursing home is a modern purpose built home designed specifically for the needs of elderly residents, 24 hours a day.         
Based on the Northside of the City and approximately 8 miles from Dublin City Centre, the nursing home attracts residents from all across the county, building year on year a reputation for the excellence of their nursing care. The residents have varying needs from specialist support and help with everyday living to those who just need a helping hand to retain some independence. The home provides nursing care for short and long term residents, as well as respite residents. Convalescent care is provided for patients recuperating from surgery or illness.  
Position of Director of Nursing:-              
The appointee will undertake the role and responsibilities of the Director of Nursing in line with the Health Act 2007, related regulations and standards published by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA). Accountable to the Clinical Director, the successful applicant will be required to provide and manage a professional care and nursing service while actively contributing to the development of the Nursing Home, its residents and staff.                  
Requirements :-  
The successful applicant:Must be a registered nurse (on, or eligible to be on, the live register of nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, NMBI.              
Must have 7 years relevant post registration nursing experience.              
Must have (within the last 6 years) a minimum 3 years' relevant experience, caring for the older person.                
Must possess (within the last 6 years) a minimum of 3 years management/supervisory experience, including team leadership with resource planning and allocation.  
Must have the ability to communicate effectively with residents, relatives/visitors, employees, management and external bodies e.g. GPs, hospitals, HSE, HIQA, etc.   Post-registration qualification in Gerontology or Dementia Care and post-registration qualification in healthcare management or equivalent will be an advantage. In the absence of such a qualification, the appointee will be required to undertake such training.                   
An excellent remuneration package will be provided to the successful candidate including a competitive salary, Target Bonus of between (8K-10K),  5% pension contribution,  25 days holidays and the provision of continuing professional development.
