Moorehaven is an intellectual disabilities service based in Tipperary Town and currently working with TTM Healthcare to source CV's for the role of Day & Residential Manager.  
The service has 17 Service users in Residential Care, it has 2 respite beds and there are over 100 attending the Day Service
The role involves managing circa 40 people in their Day Servic while also having responsibility for the Person in Charge who will be managing the Residential/Respite part of the Service.  
 
Candidates will need to have a relevant Social Care or Nursing Qualification and substantial management experience within the intellectual disabilities sector.
Strong leadership and organisational abilities are paramount as is a thorough working knowledge of H.I.Q.A. regulations relative to the sector.
 
 
 
JOB TITLE: Day and Residential Manager
REPORTING TO: General Manager
EMPLOYING AUTHORITY: MooreHaven Centre (Tipperary) DAC, O'Brien
         Street, Tipperary
Team, REPORTING IN: Day Service Staff, Person in Charge (PIC) & Persons Participating in Management, PPIM
The Day & Residential Manager is a pivotal role within MooreHaven, embracing both the day and residential service.
There are circa 40 people partaking in the day service programmes. The people on these programmes are those who started in MooreHaven when it opened its doors in 1983 and also to a specific group of people who have exited their training programme. The programmes comprise a mix of learning, leisure and recreational pursuits combined with community involvement. Being just 2 minutes from Main Street Tipperary, MooreHaven service users can engage in the community life of the town.
The residential side of the job is to co-ordinate the residential service providing direction and guidance to the residential team through the Person in Charge (PIC) of the service. The role is to work through the team of PIC and Persons Participating in Management to ensure a quality residential service in accordance with statutory Regulations under HIQA.
The specific duties of the role include co-ordinating:
1. The Day Service Programmes;
2. The in-house transport service;
3. Student placements within MooreHaven;
4. The growth and development of volunteers working in MooreHaven;
5. The Solas placement scheme;
6. The Residential Service.
 
The person appointed will be a PPIM, i.e. person participating in management, in line with HIQA regulations and will provide on call support to the residential team according to a rota.
 
Main Duties and Responsibilities:     
1. Ensuring MooreHaven Centre policies and procedures are implemented and maintained, reviewing policies and putting new ones in place, when necessary;
2. Co-ordinating the smooth running of the day activation programmes  ensuring a creative environment conducive to the wellbeing of each individual, i.e. mindful of the respect and dignity of each individual person;
3. Co-ordinating the Person Centred Planning process for each individual.
4. Liaising with families around the Person Centred Planning process in accordance with the 12 outcomes according to HSE New Directions National Policy;
5. Supervising staff in the day service, including Solas participants, Volunteers, students and organising relief staff as required;
6. Liaising with families and external stakeholders as appropriate.
7. Co-ordinating bus drivers in the delivery of the day service and organising relief bus drivers (out of hours if required), for morning and evening runs in the collecting and dropping home people from their day service;
8. Co-ordinating and supervising 3rd level, 2nd level and transition year students within the service;
9. Updating individual timetables periodically in accordance with the person's day service programme;
10. Monitoring and updating risk assessments, as required;
11. Liaising with HSE support staff/ multi-disciplinary team;
12. Attending and participating in staff meetings and other case conferences, as required;
13. Attending internal and external training appropriate to the position and keeping professionally competent;
14. Implementing health and safety standards in accordance with MooreHaven safety statement, ensuring all personnel are familiar with emergency and other operational procedures and regulations i.e. fire evacuation procedures and fire drills;
15. Developing a good team working ethic within the staff team in the day activity programmes;
16. Ensuring high standards of professional care are maintained at all times, according to Code of Practice for all Persons who Support Adults in MooreHaven Centre;
17. Ensuring correct procedures are adhered to relating to the collection, storage, administration and safe keeping of drugs and that medical records and reports are kept / completed, administer medication as required.
18. Ensuring reports are completed in the event of accidents, incidents, near misses and risk assessments are conducted;
19. Reporting any concerns of abuse to the designated officer by completing the concern of abuse report,
20. Maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality at all times, according to MooreHaven's Confidentiality Policy;
21. Maintaining a high standard of work performance, attendance, appearance and punctuality at all times, according to Code of Practice for Staff Policy;
22. Organising induction of new staff providing periodic feedback on performance to the new staff member during probationary period;
23. Maintaining and updating staff files and organise training, refresher courses;
24. Providing effective leadership for staff, supporting them in the performance of their duties;
25. Conducting performance appraisals;
26. Participating in Annual Performance Reviews of the Service and organising an annual feedback satisfaction survey;
27. Linking in daily with the PIC, Deputy PIC, and to ensure matters reported in the daily communications diary are acted on; or in their absence dealing with any matters reported;
28. Organisising residents' clinic/doctor appointments in the absence of the PIC;
29. Conducting Friday weekly meetings with the residential team, PIC & Deputy PIC to coordinate the residential service;
30. Providing an out of hours on-call support to the residential service;
31. Rostering/organising relief staff as required in the absence of the PIC/ deputy PIC, to ensure a consistency of staff cover;
32. Conducting audits on the residential service, with an emphasis on medication / cash audits and a general audit on the standard of cleanliness in the homes;
33. Conducting audits in the day service in line with the interim standards for New Directions.
34. Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Eligibility Criteria:     Candidates must have at the latest date of application: -
 
  • Honours degree in Social Care, or a Nursing qualification or equivalent
  • Experience at middle to senior management level
  • A proven ability to manage and deliver programmes
  • A track record of successful leadership
  • A record of delivering change, working in a complex environment through strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • The requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) to discharge the duties of the office.
