TTM have been retained to recruit a panel of 6 social care workers for a relief panel in Dublin 6.
 
 
JOB DESCRIPTION -
 
Responsible to: Centre Manager
 
General Responsibilities:
To work with a team ethos, understanding the mission statement, vision, values and behavioral expectations of the Service.
To promote and maintain equal opportunity and anti-oppressive practice within the work environment.
Have an awareness and understanding of the centres policies and procedures as well as relevant government guidelines and legislation paying particular attention to Child Protection Procedures, equal opportunities, anti-discriminatory & health and safety policies.
To ensure a high standard of social care practice.
To help create and maintain a nurturing and learning environment within the centre.
To work in accordance with the Health and Safety policy.
To represent the centre in a professional manner at all times to internal and external stakeholders.
To perform such additional tasks as may be required by the Centre Manager.
 
Child Protection and Welfare
To ensure the safety of the children remains central to the assessment/intervention process.  To also promote the health, welfare and safety of all families.
To be responsible for the supervision and support of identified families and ensure the safety of children at all times.
Undertake ongoing risk assessments of families, acting decisively to protect children.
 
The post holder must have a working knowledge of all statutory duties and responsibilities relating to children and their families, including: -

Assessment
  To review all referrals with the Manager of prospective families to determine their eligibility.
 To conduct interviews with families and complete assessments.
To undertake objective assessments based on detailed observations regarding children and families, this is both within the residential setting and outside.
To maintain a consistently high level of observation, recording, interaction, communication and assessment of families interaction, need, parental motivation and daily events within the Centre. To ensure that all direct work undertaken with families’ is skilled, sensitive, respectful and honest.
 
Work with Families
To work with and alongside parents on the tasks of daily living.
To enable parents to acquire the skills of parenting and independent living.
To monitor and supervise parents where necessary in the care of their children.
To encourage parents to participate in centre activities and groups.
Support parents in developing parenting skills, providing them with guidance and advice which promotes the welfare of the child and remains in their best interests.
Demonstrate an ability to work in partnership with the parents, taking into account the families own life experiences and the impact this has had.
Accompany families off site for various shopping trips and appointments when necessary.
You will be required to perform individual sessions with families focusing on various specific areas.
 
Administration
To keep records of the day to day running of the Centre using the Centre diary, communication book and daily report and observation sheets on individual families.
To carry out various administrative tasks as appropriate to the position.
 
Staff Development
To attend supervision with the Centre Manager.
To attend appropriate training courses as agreed to enhance professional development and skills in line with Carr’s training policy.

BA Higher level degree in Social Care
Graduate diploma in Social Work
BA Psychology
Nursing Degree
