The Role:
The Nurse Educator will be responsible for planning, implementing and coordinating individualised developmental and educational programmes to support children's learning needs.
The Nurse Educator will be responsible for ensuring the medical health needs of the children are met within the CDC. The successful candidate will work closely, as part of the team and in collaboration with members of the relevant Children's Disability Network Teams ensuring the maximum benefit of the programme for the children.
Location:
Galway City. Staff work collaboratively to support children with complex medical and learning needs. The children attending are typically aged between 3-6 yrs. A number of the children have complex medical support needs.
Reporting/Responsible To:
Team Leader/Children's Programme Manager
Works With:
Children and families
Educators/Teachers/Special Needs Assistants/Support Workers/Domestic staff
Children's Disability Network Teams/Children's respite Services/Turas, Family & Community Support Services.
Qualifications/Experience:
The successful candidate must hold the following:
ØA recognised nursing qualification (preferably RNID) and a current live register with the NMBI (An Bord Altranais).
ØAppropriate experience of working with children with an intellectual disability in an educational setting is desirable.
Working Hours:
The initial appointment is working 48 hours a fortnight based on a 5 day duty roster. Employees may be requested to work in the Children's Respite Services if the need arises and therefore flexibility is required.
Annual Leave:
24 days pro rata per annum i.e. 9.23 hours per 100 hours worked. Annual leave is taken at set school closure times.
Remuneration:
Department of Health Staff Nurse salary scale - €30,609 x 11 increments - €46,021 pro rata per annum. Long Service Increment (LSI) €47,431 pro rata per annum is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale.
A location allowance of €2,347 pro rata per annum will also be paid only when assigned to units for persons with a severe/profound intellectual disability.
