TTM Healthcare are currently recruiting for a Lab Quality Manager (Chief Medical Scientist), on behalf of an independent, acute care hospital, based in North Dublin.

The JCI and INAB accredited Pathology Department is a consultant led service and includes 45 scientific, assistant, clerical and phlebotomy staff, supporting 18 clinical units within the hospital including cardiology, endoscopy, surgery, medicine and oncology, performing a wide range of clinical laboratory investigations utilising state of the art diagnostic analysers and techniques.

Working closely with the Laboratory Manager and Laboratory Clinical Director, the Quality Manager will be part of the senior leadership team and responsible for leading and managing the operation and development of the quality management system.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Implementing, maintaining, delivering and developing a quality management system compliant with the ISO15189 and ISO22870 standards, JCI and all other relevant quality systems
  • Working proactively to foster and embed a culture of continual quality improvement across the department
  • Engaging all laboratory staff and stakeholders in the quality management system
  • Working collaboratively with the haemovigilance officer, head of department in blood transfusion and consultant haematologists to ensure that the requirements of Articles 14 and 15 of Directive 2002/98/EC are met
  • Being the department's key point of contact for the Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB) and the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA).
  • Leading the education and training of laboratory staff in the principles and practices of the quality management system
  • Ensuring that processes needed for the quality management system are established, implemented and maintained
  • Reporting on the performance of the quality management system and any need for improvement to the laboratory and hospital management.
  • Responsible for revision and review of all quality management procedures
  • Supporting the Hospital to maintain JCI and any other best practice standards or guidelines that may apply
  • Ensuring that effective safety procedures are in place to comply with health and safety regulations, ensuring safe working practices and a safe working environment

Key Requirements:
•Minimum 7 years postgraduate recent experience working in an accredited laboratory, with at least 2 years in a supervisory level
•MSc or Fellowship in Medical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent
•Experience of ISO15189 accreditation for laboratories
•Experience of ISO22870 for POCT
•Experience with Q-Pulse
•Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of at least one area of Pathology
•Excellent understanding of the requirements of a quality management system
•Good knowledge of data protection, risk management and laboratory health and safety
•Excellent oral and written communication skills
•Excellent training delivery skills
•Quality management qualification is desirable
•Management or supervisory training is desirable
