The overall responsibility within this role will be to work in the Cardiac investigations department to work as a senior member of the team cardiac physiologists.  Highly specialized Physiologists participate in a wide variety of tasks from basic diagnostic investigations to highly complex invasive therapeutic procedures, they can be highly complex and require detailed clinical information which can dictate therapy and ensure that all work is client focused and upholds the principles of choice, respect, dignity, privacy, independence and fulfillment.

Your Clinical Responsibilities:

  • The post holder will work closely with other Cardiac Clinical Physiologists, the Lead Clinician in Cardiology, Consultant Cardiologists and departmental manager in providing a high-quality Cardiology service across the Trust
  • The post holder will be involved in the provision of a range of techniques for recording, measuring and monitoring physiological changes in patients and preparing reports on results obtained
  • Stress testing both standard and stress echocardiography
  • Holter monitoring- to include 24hr, 72hr and 7-day monitoring
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Standard adult transthoracic echocardiography both inpatients and outpatients
  • Assist with TOE procedure within department and Theatres
  • Pediatric Echocardiography, where suitable following training and accreditation

Your Educational Responsibilities:

  • BSc Clinical Science or equivalent relevant degree
  • Post graduate qualification or equivalent e.g. MSc BSE, BPEG, IIBHRE or near to completion
  • Post graduate qualification or equivalent e.g. MSc BSE, HRS, or IBHRE
  • ALS certification


To be eligible for the role, you will need to:

  • Hold a BSc in Clinical Science or equivalent
  • 3 + years’ experience
  • Ability to report and scan independently
