Position : Director of Care / Person in Charge - Small Elderly Care Facility - Co. Cork

Our Client a Family owned 40+ bedded residential Home that has been providing the highest quality and most professional care for our residents for over 35 years is currently recruiting a Director of Nursing on a full time permanent basis. This is a vibrant Nursing Home whose ethos is centered solely around our residents.

We have a fantastic Team and wonderful Families and are currently looking for an experienced DON/ADON to play an integral and active role within our a dynamic residential care facility. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive environment whilst working with an experienced team of Healthcare Professionals.

Key Responsibilities :

Care and Quality:

1. To be aware of the responsibilities of being the registered Director of Care, to attend statutory inspections by regulatory bodies and ensure that reports are acted upon in accordance with company policy and procedures.
2. To ensure all client assessments are undertaken in line with company policy & procedure.
3. To establish and maintain effective communication with all residents within the care centre, their relatives and friends. Consumer satisfaction is seen as an important function of the Director of Care.
4. To undertake audits to assess standards and act on any findings.
5. Deal with complaints following policies on complaints, incidents, accidents and reporting to HIQA in accordance with guidelines.
HR Management
1. To supervise and monitor all staff within the care home.
2. To have the responsibility for working within the agreed staffing levels for the residential Home. Any demand for an increase in staffing levels to be submitted to the Managing Director with supporting evidence

To be responsible for:

Recruiting adequate levels of staffing within company guidelines
Training and development of staff
Termination of employment/dismissal and all disciplinary procedures

General :

1. To maintain a good relationship with all external bodies and meet all regulatory and statutory requirements
2. To act on other directions given about the care centre in a prompt and effective manner.
3. To carry out all tasks, assessments and investigations outlined in the company's policies and procedures and to maintain a full awareness of those procedures and all amendments and updates thereto.
4. To carry out other duties as will, from time to time be directed.
5. To carry out all duties in a safe manner having regard for the health and safety and welfare of self, staff, residents and other persons within.

Person Specification Requirements :

· Qualified RGN with at least 5 years' experience in Eldercare
· 3rd level management qualification and proven management experience of at least 5 years is essential
· Proven track record in Clinical Management
· Excellent Leadership and organizational clinical management skills
· Ability to motivate self and others to work on their own initiative
· Ability to work well and promote a team environment
· Willingness to be flexible and adapt to the needs of the Residential Home
