Our client is looking to recruit a Director of Nursing (DON) for a modern purpose built home which provides a high standard of care 24 hours a day. They offer residential care for residents living with dementia and provide respite care to give more carers a much needed break, or rehabilitation after a hospital stay.  
   
   
Position of Director of Nursing:-                  
     
   
Reporting to the Regional Manager the Director of Nursing (DON)  will essentially be responsible for the provision of residential care for clients and specialist care for those with Dementia. The nursing home is a modern purpose built home designed specifically for the needs of elderly residents, 24 hours a day.The appointee will undertake the role and responsibilities of the Director of Nursing in line with the Health Act 2007, related regulations and standards published by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA). Accountable to the Clinical Director, the successful applicant will be required to provide and manage a professional care and nursing service while actively contributing to the development of the Nursing Home, its residents and staff.                    
                     
Requirements :-      
       
The successful applicant:Must be a registered nurse (on, or eligible to be on, the live register of nurses maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, NMBI.                  
Possess strong leadership skills  
Must have 7 years relevant post registration nursing experience.                  
Must have (within the last 6 years) a minimum 3 years' relevant experience, caring for the older person.                  
Must possess (within the last 6 years) a minimum of 3 years management/supervisory experience, including team leadership with resource planning and allocation.      
Must have the ability to communicate effectively with residents, relatives/visitors, employees, management and external bodies e.g. GPs, hospitals, HSE, HIQA, etc.   Post-registration qualification in Gerontology or Dementia Care and post-registration qualification in healthcare management or equivalent will be an advantage. In the absence of such a qualification, the appointee will be required to undertake such training.
