Staff Nurse - Emergency / Urgent Care
Experienced Emergency Nurse required for healthcare facility based in Limerick. The successful applicant will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and is based on the principles of integrative medicine.
This is an 18 month contract working on a full time basis. The successful candidate will be required to work every second weekend, no nights included.
About the role:
The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team who will deliver unscheduled urgent care. The roles also includes health promotion, as well as the prevention and management of chronic diseases.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Work as a skilled practitioner to provide and deliver nursing assessment and treatment for patients appropriate to urgent care and minor illnesses.
•Routine activities including: vital signs, phlebotomy, patient samples, ECGs.
•Effectively manage patients with chronic conditions in conjunction with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
•Facilitate and co-ordinate 24 hour Blood pressure monitoring for patients.
•Provide ear syringing for adult patients.
•Carry out basic wound care management including suture and clip removal and superficial ulcers.
•Actively promote and encourage health and wellbeing initiatives and an integrative health approach to care.
Requirements:
Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland as RGN or Dual Qualified Nurse
Minimum of 2yrs postgraduate experience in areas including general practice, A&E, urgent care or trauma orthopaedics
Competent with IT systems and Electronic Health Records (EHRs)
Desirable:
•Post Graduate Diploma in Emergency Medicine/Urgent Care/Community Nursing
•Experience in minor trauma, general medicine, paediatrics, sports medicine or orthopaedics
•Recognised casting qualification
•Wound care qualification
•ACLS/ PALS
