TTM Healthcare in conjunction with our client a leading private hospital in Kerry is recruiting for a CNM2 for a day ward working full tme 39 hours per week on a permanent basis.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The post holder must possess a hospital-wide understanding of clinical activity, patient dependency, skill mix and bed availability, by continuously collecting patient information (at least once per shift) and making informed decisions. The Clinical Nurse Manager II shows a capacity to adopt a leadership stance, and supplements nursing management structures in the Hospital.



The key roles and responsibilities include:

Be responsible for assisting the ADON by taking an active role in the professional leadership, development and effective management of the nursing and allied care services in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures.
Assist in co-ordinating the activities of the Nursing Department by liaising with Consultants, medical staff and other healthcare professionals and service managers.
Lead, manage and motivate the Nursing team, delegating responsibility and accountability to CNM I & Senior Nurses, as appropriate.
Take responsibility for being the contact person' for patient location enquiries in the absence of the Bed Manager.
Display a visible clinical presence and be an expert practitioner and role model in the clinical area. Utilise advanced skills in patient assessment and undertake appropriate clinical decisions and actions referring to medical practitioner/clinician, as appropriate.
Ensure all incidences or difficulties concerning patients and staff are accurately and adequately documented and immediately reported to the ADON and the necessary corrective action taken as appropriate.
Assess, report and take appropriate corrective action on complaints from patients and relatives. Analyses complaint data and implement procedures to improve the service where appropriate.
Receive reports on patients' progress during the night from Nursing Staff and relay to the ADON.
Undertake ward duties to supplement and assist the nursing team.
Liaise with senior medical staff regarding the overnight management of patients.
Practice in accordance with all current policies, protocols and guidelines of the Hospital.
Utilise financial and other information to plan and deliver agreed levels of service and keep within the nursing budget. Monitor results and take action where appropriate, and highlight variances within the nursing budget to the ADON.
Encourage ongoing staff education and staff development among permanent night staff.
