From humble beginnings A “Start Your Own Business” course and some funding from the former Clare County Enterprise Board were the bricks that laid the foundations of TTM Healthcare, a company that now employs 1,500 healthcare professionals and has an expected turnover of €70 million for 2016. This was the tale of expansion and growth recounted by Barry Pactor, Group Managing Director, when he attended the launch of the FBD Clare Business Excellence Awards on Friday last, 17th June. Clare roots Established in 2002 by company CEO Brian Crowley, a very proud Clare native, TTM Healthcare (TTM) now operates across Ireland, the UK and Middle East. The company’s international headquarters are still based in Ennis, as are many of its 130 strong team of recruitment and support staff. Local collaboration and support Recognising the support that TTM received in its early days, Mr Pactor went on to say that the company would welcome the opportunity to share its experience and collaborate with other businesses in the region in looking at new opportunities. Just over a year after they saved his life, little Odhran Wiley, his dad George and mum Charlene, who is Head of Talent and Customer Relations in TTM Healthcare’s Life Science Division, were back in Cork University Hospital, this time to present a cheque for over €3,000. Lifesaving work When he was just four days old, Charlene and George Wiley watched helplessly as their new born son, Odhran, was rushed to the Neonatal Unit of Cork University Hospital (CUH) with viral meningitis. Brimming with gratitude for the exceptional care that Odhran received from the entire Neonatology Team, George and Charlene were determined to do something to say thank you. She explains, “The Neonatal Unit in Cork University Hospital saved our little boy and I will run for the rest of my life to raise more money for this unit.” Lacing up their running shoes With Odhran safely back home, Charlene and George laced up their running shoes. Together, they took on the Waterford Half Marathon, the John Treacy Dungarvan 10 Mile Road Race, the Mallow 10 Mile Road Race and the Manchester Marathon, raising €3,126.08 for the CUH Charity as they ran. A marathon effort The Wileys really appreciate the support their fundraising efforts received. Charlene says, “On behalf of George, Odhran and myself, I want to say a massive "Thank you" to everyone who very generously supported us to help raise funds for the neo unit in CUH. This unit is very close to our hearts and we will be forever grateful for the special care they provided for our little man Odhran last year.” The money raised will go towards the refurbishment of inpatient facilities in the Children’s Unit which were originally built in the 1970s and aid the transformation of the Children’s Unit into a single centre of excellence caring for children in the Munster area.
